Webinar: Virtual Sports Day

ESCI Virtual Sports Day

Education Support Centres Ireland (ESCI) are delighted to launch the Live Webinar:

Virtual Sports Day - Turn your school sports day into a reality

This unique live webinar, which is being rolled out nationwide in all 21 Education Centres over the coming two weeks, provides participants with:

·         A step by step guide, on how you can host a Virtual Sports Day in your school.

·         A suite of resources including detailed explanations with downloads, explainer videos and music playlists

·         A list of household items which can be substituted for normal school equipment

Speaking at the virtual launch of the resource, Daragh McDaid, Director Sligo Education Centre:

“As we near the end of the final term, we all know that Sports Day is a day that many children look forward to at the end of the school year. Sadly, this year they will not get the opportunity to enjoy this day. We wanted to provide schools with a way of bringing the fun and excitement of sports day to the homes of children. Our tutor team, Eanna Casey and Adrian Ormsby, have developed this resource as part of a Live Webinar Series, which is being rolled out across the Education Centre network. We’re delighted that all 21 Education Centre directors across the country are bringing this webinar and resource to their schools. A number of the activities we have used reference the Move Well Move Often Resource, and I would like to thank the Professional Development Service for Teachers (PDST) for giving us permission to use their resource for some of the activities. We wanted to make this resource accessible to every school and family in the country, hopefully turning that end of year sports day in to a reality for the children, and bringing some well needed happiness to children in these challenging times.”

Celia Walsh, Director Waterford Teachers Centre & Chairperson ESCI:

"As Chairperson of the Education Centre network (ESCI), I am delighted to be associated with this unique initiative which hopefully will facilitate some fun and engaging activities for our young pupils who are demonstrating incredible resilience in these challenging times. Huge thanks go to Daragh McDaid, Director of Sligo EC and his tutor team, for their innovation and creativity in developing this resource which I hope will bring significant benefit to all who use it."
